My story
The first time I realised my brain worked a little differently, I wasn’t staring at a screen. I was staring at a problem, one that had too many moving parts. Users, constraints, edge cases, competing priorities. Most people saw a tangle. I saw a structure trying to emerge.
At university, that instinct didn’t go unnoticed. I was recognised early as a designer with unusual clarity and potential, and that opened doors to mentorship much sooner than I expected. Those early mentors didn’t just teach me tools, they taught me a mindset: design is not decoration, it’s a way of understanding people. Human-centred design became the foundation I still build on today, start with real needs, test assumptions, and earn trust through clarity.
I began my career focused on craft, layout, typography, polish. But as the work grew more complex, I found myself drawn to what sits underneath the interface, the logic, the relationships, the system. That’s where my strongest advantage shows up. I have exceptionally strong spatial visualisation and naturally picture products as connected parts, like an exploded view, where I can “see” screens, states, components, and pathways before they exist on a canvas. It’s why information architecture, complex workflows, and design systems feel intuitive to me, I’m always mapping how the pieces fit, where they break, and what needs to be true for the experience to feel effortless.
Of course, structure without empathy is just machinery. So I pair that systems thinking with research and collaboration, getting close to users, pressure-testing ideas, and working side-by-side with product and engineering teams to make sure what we design can actually ship, scale, and last. And when speed matters, I use generative AI as an accelerator, helping me explore options faster, sharpen prototypes earlier, and spend more time on the decisions that truly move the needle.
Today, my work is about one thing, turning complexity into calm. Taking the messy, the ambiguous, the high-stakes, and shaping it into something people can understand, trust, and use with confidence. Because the best products don’t feel complicated, they feel inevitable.
“Good design doesn’t remove complexity – it organises it until clarity emerges.”
Design principles
These principles guide how I think, make decisions, and design under real-world constraints.
-
Design begins by understanding people, what they’re trying to do, what gets in their way, and what they care about. Empathy keeps decisions grounded in reality, not assumptions.
-
Complex problems don’t disappear, they get organised. I focus on structure, hierarchy, and flow so users can move through complexity with confidence, not friction.
-
Great ideas only matter if they can be built, used, and maintained. I design with technical, organisational, and human constraints in mind from the start.
-
Scalable products are designed as connected systems. I prioritise reusable patterns and shared language so teams can move faster without losing coherence.
Core competencies
UX design
I dive deep into understanding how people think and behave, shaping digital experiences that feel intuitive and satisfying. It’s not just about making things pretty, it’s about crafting flows that anticipate needs and remove friction, making every interaction effortless.
User research & testing
Real user feedback is my compass. By running thoughtful research and testing, I uncover hidden pain points and validate assumptions, ensuring that every design decision is backed by actual human experience, not guesswork.
Workshop facilitation
Bringing people together to brainstorm, prototype, and problem-solve energises me. I guide teams through creative workshops that spark fresh ideas and build shared understanding, turning abstract challenges into clear design paths.
Design systems management
Consistency is key at scale. I build and maintain design systems that act as a shared language across teams, streamlining development, boosting collaboration, and freeing up time to focus on innovation instead of reinventing the wheel.
Accessibility design
Design is only as good as its reach. I prioritise accessibility to create experiences that welcome everyone, no matter their abilities. Making products usable and enjoyable for all users isn’t just an add-on, it’s a responsibility.
Generative AI
I leverage generative AI as a creative partner, speeding up prototyping and uncovering insights that might otherwise take weeks to find. This blend of human intuition and machine power lets me explore ideas faster while staying grounded in what users truly want.
Stakeholder management
Good design needs strong champions. I work to build trust and clear communication with stakeholders, translating complex design concepts into business value and fostering alignment so that great ideas can thrive and get built.
Agile collaboration
I thrive in fast-moving teams where communication and adaptability matter. Working closely with product owners, developers, and other stakeholders, I help keep design aligned with shifting priorities without losing sight of quality and user impact.
How I work and collaborate
1
Discover and align
I work closely with stakeholders and users to understand the real problem, context, constraints, and intent. Alignment early creates clarity later and prevents costly rework.
2
Design & validate
I explore ideas quickly through structure, flows, and prototypes, testing assumptions as early as possible. Feedback and iteration keep solutions grounded and useful.
3
Ship and refine
I partner with engineering to ensure designs translate smoothly into production. After launch, I refine based on real usage, not just initial assumptions.
